Re: New Issue Online

Tao, your "shell game" might not be a bad idea . . . either that, or everybody's afraid of Robert throwing another hissy-fit . . . I'll be really amazed if it turns out that this was all that was needed to get people to comment. I'm not. It's socially easier for most people to join a conversation t...

New issue is online. It is fully of joy. And bourbon. But mostly joy.

Aphelion would like to wish all of our American readers a happy Thanksgiving on November 24. And to all our non-American readers, Aphelion would like to wish you a happy Thursday.

Re: Thoughts on Writing #30: Continuity . . . by Seanan McGu

Let's chalk that up to a double layer of misunderstanding - one, that I didn't quite get that the essays were all frozen and being "syndicated", but you raise a nice larger point about how continuity affects republished materials. I'll leave it to my betters whether Star Trek, Dr. Who, or Star Wars...

Re: Thoughts on Writing #30: Continuity . . . by Seanan McGu

Continuity is so hard!Even Seanan missed one! "My first published work of novel-length fiction, Rosemary and Rue, will be coming out released in September of 2009." Okay, in July 2011, what happened? A. The novel was eaten by a grue. B. It was trapped in twisty little editors' offices, all alike. C...

Re: Thoughts on Writing #29: Outlines by Seanan McGuire

I find that I frequently write outlines for stories. But in nearly every case those outlines get left behind as the characters begin taking over and telling me new things I'd never thought of on my own. I think it's important to remember that an outline isn't a suicide pact. It's just a plan, and l...

Re: Spam Killing Spree

I found many, many spams this morning, so I decided to try my new-found Moderator powers out for a spin. They're gone now, including a lot of old ones. It turns out deleting spam makes one feel better about themselves. Who knew? I only wish I could do more, like blocking spambot members and whatnot...
