Re: New Issue Online
What? No wi-fi? :D Seriously, I envy you. Oh, I had wi-fi. But I wasn't going to spend my time there hunched over a computer when there was all that fresh air, and kids running around, and food to eat. :) The date, issue and volume number on the top right corner of the masthead is still last month....

I apologise for the delay, but I was on top of a mountain all weekend. By way of an apology, here's the view I was enjoying instead of getting this out earlier: http://images.instagram.com/media/2011/04/17/236aca46399d43b6a7e2c03fc7d41581_7.jpg We've got all sorts of stories, poetry, and features fo...

I'm really sorry to hear of your loss, Iskoday. I can safely say of all the things I have ahead of me, that's one I don't think I'll ever be prepared for.
You are in our thoughts.

Responding to the spammer... Makes perfect sense to me! I found myself transported to new worlds as I read...no wait, I accidentally kept clicking on the hundred links in blue. Wait once again, why is my computer acting funny? Why is it jamming? Why am I asking so many questions? Oh no, it was a vir...

Re: Retrograde
It's nice to see that novels qualify for the Retrograde scope. I restate my feeling that as our net society gets ever faster and faster, we're losing our understanding of older materials at an alarming rate. Already stuff from even the 1980's counts as "passe", let alone 1956. Yet we might need to ...

Coming slightly late to the conversation, but Randall Monroe over at XKCD has a very useful infographic to help people understand the comparative dangers of the radiation of various sources.

In the house, I have single malt scotch and Canadian whiskey for mixing. You tell me which one is closer to appropriate. :) Well, the Newfoundland accent is (to my ear) Irish... but the "National drink" of Newfoundland is 'screech', which is suitable-for-stripping-paint rum. But Canadians are multi...

New Issue Online
Just in time for Saint Patrick's Day, a new issue of Aphelion. Not just any issue, though. This is our 150th (!) issue! Of special note this month is a brand new Nightwatch story by Jeff Williams (with Elizabeth Markham), "The Girl With Kaleidoscope Eyes". Don't miss it; it's a doozy. There's also a...

Rob, It was an unexpected pleasure to see my foray into essay humor selected by you for the best of 2010 features. And here we go, kicking off another year of Aphelion. This is the start of our fifteenth year, which is pretty exciting. Crap! Can't submit the Complete Nightwatch then, since not all the writers live in the US. That kinda sucks, since I could have the whole series copy/pasted into Fly By Wire and converted to PDF in a single day- Jeff & Rob M. could actually sell the bugger! Dan It's also worth noting that Nightwatc...

BTW, browser tip for people with difficulty reading on the screen (in any page, not just here):
Ctrl-+ will increase the font size of the page. (Ctrl-- decreases it, and Ctrl-0 resets it to "normal"). You can apply this multiple times until you find a font size you are comfortable with.

My name in green would be ok, too. :) No, actually, all I was hoping for was a "Flash Editor" like Robert's "Short Stories Editor" under the avatar. It has been a couple of years now. Which reminds me that I never did get a proper button in the sidebar either. *makes a note for the weekend* BTW, I ...

Are we gonna be able to choose a different skin? Few things hurt my eyes like trying to read white fonts against a dark background . . . I've modified the "prosilver" theme to work within the Aphelion framework and changed the settings to allow user override. I plan to look for a better light/contr...

My immediate reaction is negative. These ancient eyeballs don't do well with light blue on white. I did much better with the dark background. I suppose I'll get used to it, but the prior format was much easier to read. gino It's not going to stay this way. This is just the default skin. It probably...
