Aphelion

This story worked pretty well in spite of some unfashionably long paragraphs -- make that, whole passages -- of narration. I can tell that Mr. Cushnie did a lot of thinking about this, because it has a very authentic feel to it. Seamless and shiny, with good use of detail. I liked the conversation between Mother Superior and Father Joseph, and the ending was a bit unexpected.
