Very well done. This story poses the question, "What if . . . ?"
Two people get to explore their solutions to that question, finding that the only limits to their abilities are those they set for themselves. What they didn't do was more important than what they could have done.
Mr. Faulkner's bio says he's "honing his writing craft." Seems to me he's got a pretty sharp edge on it already.
Read this. And, whoever's keeping track, put me down as nominating it for a position on the Year's Best list.
