As an editor or anyone who formats stories for the web, the amount of italics in this story was almost enough for me to reject it on that basis alone. That much takes we a long time to set up. However, there was clearly a lot of world-building here, enough that I thought it should see the light of digital day. The son's desire to take the father's place was a palpable bit of characterization, and I love good characters.
What did you think about everything that was going on in this story?
