Doesn't work
The executable ".exe" file doesn't run on my Mac (PowerPC, 10.4). Not how Macs work. They probably would have had a separate installer for Mac, if it was indeed a cross-platform program.
I have to doubt any software from '96 would run on a 10.x Mac, but that's not my area of expertise.

questions
On the surface, I'm interested.
Since I do know a tiny bit about this, I'm trying to think like someone who doesn't have any acting experience, and the first question that comes to mind is: what would I learn?
The second potential novice question I can think of is: why would I need it? Can't I just read my story?
Lastly, how much time on the phone would we need to rack up? Is there a video conference/internet option? I can see someone wanting to know how much to budget for when the phone bill comes.
(Consider this a well-intentioned setup for an unrehearsed commercial on why it would help to know about vocal performing to produce a better audio story.)
From a purely selfish perspective I'm hoping that whatever you come up with in your workshop will be geared toward Aphelionites being able to produce their own audio pieces (hopefully for a future flash challenge
), remembering that they probably won't have additional voice actors to use and probably not have access to a huge audio library for incidental music and sound effects.

example
In case any of you don't follow the Flash Challenges, Mark just finished making last month's winner into an audio story at his studio. This may be an example of what we all could be doing someday.
Liminal Day
by David Allen Jones
The voices of the narrator, the father, the sage and the fire were performed by Mark Edgemon.
The voices of Kyras and her mother were performed by Marla Deaton.
This audio story was produced through the Creator and the Catalyst Studios.

another question
I wondered about us doing it all over the phone, since I believe Kerry lives in South Africa, but email and attachments work fine for me.
Something I did think of: I know we can all get free software, but is there some sort of minimum equipment hardware we'll need? Is, say, the built-in mic on my iMac going to be good enough? Is there some sort of USB headset that doesn't cost an arm and a leg we should be looking at, or anything like that? I don't mind spending a couple bucks, but I've only barely dabbled at audio stories in the past, so I really don't know what's out there.

sounding different
I notice mine seem to have some distortion, but not in how my character voice sounds, if that makes sense. Did I not record them right?
I also might be the only one using Audacity so far, so perhaps I need to change a setting or two?
