If you're looking for some help coming up with fresh descriptions of things -- especially people's emotions -- check out this page:
http://thebookshelfmuse.blogspot.com/
I've purchased a copy of The Emotion Thesaurus, and it is truly a very useful reference. For the price, it's a steal; I recommend it.
You can get some of its entries free on the site, plus lists of physical attributes of all kinds of things, character traits, even symbolism. New entries on the blog every few days. There's also a free PDF download called Emotion Amplifiers.
Bookmark the site and visit everyday. I do.
