Furniture for non-anthro morphology

Post by Lester Curtis »

It's an old question: If our knees bent the opposite direction, what would chairs look like?

I look around at Terran animal species and see that, especially among mammals and a few other so-called higher orders, digitigrades outnumber plantigrades. So, I fancy that this might also hold true among space aliens.

Thinking strictly of bipedal digitigrade morphology (T-Rex is an example), what do you think would be the answer to the above question? (Please note that the question is worded incorrectly for this purpose; the actual knees of such species really do bend the same direction as ours.)

I'm thinking that they may be able to use our furniture, but wouldn't be comfortable in it. They might use a stool, or other seat without a backrest. They might use something like a saddle -- or, they might just prefer to squat on their haunches.

What think ye?
