Nightwatch: The Peacekeeper - reality catching up?

One of the scenes in The Peacekeeper featured a former IRA bomb expert declining a request to participate in a resumption of the old conflict (by blowing up the requestor...). It looks like 'The Troubles' may be returning in the real world.
(On the other hand, in the Nightwatch universe, the situation in Afghanistan is downright peaceful compared to the mess in this world.)
