In this case, what looks like plain text actually contains lots of embedded links (basically everything that looks blank in Mark's quoted version). Presumably they hope that in scrolling through the gobbledygook (with apologies to turkeys and 'gooks'), some people might inadvertently click on on of them, triggering untold shenanigans and foofaraw. (Also folderol.)
You can't wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.
