In this case, what looks like plain text actually contains lots of embedded links (basically everything that looks blank in Mark's quoted version). Presumably they hope that in scrolling through the gobbledygook (with apologies to turkeys and 'gooks'), some people might inadvertently click on on of them, triggering untold shenanigans and foofaraw. (Also folderol.)

I'm thinking we need a "captcha" for new member signups . . . too bad our web-maven probably has too much to do already . . .
