Hmmm... with some tweaks, this could be fun as a steampunk weapon. (Not too practical as is -- minimal amperage and the discharge looks like it seeks out the closest electrical ground instead of going to the target.) The electric guns in "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" might be more useful in a fight (sort of pellet guns firing capacitor-type projectiles?). (Can't remember if they apeared in the book, or just in the Disney movie with Kirk Douglas...)
