Has anyone heard from Kate Thornton?

According to my records (using the term loosely), I haven't heard from Kate for about 3 weeks (May 17?). Has anyone else had any news from her? I'm concerned because her usual email box has been full for about a week (if not longer) ...

Robert M.

There's a link to her site in 'Members'.

Jeff and I have both tried that over the last day or two -- no answer. We're hoping that she is either out of town on vacation or working on 'Death Valley' and is avoiding e-mail and the lettercol ...

Robert M.

For the benefit of anyone not on the Nightwatch writers' grapevine, Kate Thornton is alive and semi-well!

Unfortunately, she broke BOTH wrists over the Memorial Day weekend, so she has been reduced to hunt-and-peck typing only (and it probably hurts like a sumbitch to do even that), so we will not hear much from her until her wrists mend.

Robert M.

Just when I was about to send a query that could be answered with a 'yes' or 'no' (or 'A', 'B', 'C')... Glad to hear the casts are off and your typing skills are back to pre-fracture levels. Can you play the piano and/or the violin now, too? (You never could before, but it would be only fair if the PTB threw a freebie your way.)

It figures that you picked up an infection in the hospital. That's where you go (a) if you're sick or injured, or (b) if you're not sick or injured, but want to be. Did the hospital bill you for the infection? (Not the treatment -- of COURSE they billed you for that.)

Congrats on another sale. Someday I may make one to bring my career total up to your annual total. Well, maybe that's TOO ambitious. (Sigh)

Robert M.

As Kate said, she was working on a Nightwatch story, and hadn't provided a progress report for a while. The Nightwatch Writer's Ellipsoid (like a circle, but tending to bulge in the middle as we age) was monitoring the situation as her presumed deadline approached, and we were aware that she hadn't been feeling well.

So all you need to do is sign up to write a Nightwatch story, be vewwy vewwy quiet as your deadline approaches (after mentioning that you feel an attack of Ebola virus coming on), and we'll start a topic JUST FOR YOU.

(Cheez, some people think that the world should revolve around THEM. Obviously, it's supposed to revolve around ME. (If I eat enough, and don't exercise at all, soon I WILL have a measurable gravitational field ...))

Robert M.

...maybe we should start like an AphelionWatch to monitor everybody's vitals? kinda like in Logan's Run...

Or a WeightWatch to monitor everybody's vittles? No, wait, they already have something like that ...

Robert M.
