I am a supporter of NASA.

Having said that, does anyone else find it exceedingly bizarre that a space system--namely, a capsule--that we discarded 30 years ago is the wave of the future??

Also, does anyone else have that '???' feeling when noticing that the plan for reaching the moon involves Earth Orbit Rendezvous, a plan that was abandoned forty years ago in the moon race??

I'm not saying these are the wrong approaches, only that I am, at this point, left with a very strange feeling inside.

<br>While I'm not crazy about NASA not "thinking outside the box" to get to the moon, I am glad they're finally going. Man walked on the moon before I was born (just), and hasn't done squat of real significance in space since, at least in terms of manned missions. <br><br>I favor slow travelling around the magnetosphere of the earth & moon using magnetic sail tugs exactly like that prophetic Dan Hollifield used in his monumental epic Fly by Wire. Well, hybrids of that. Wherever could have such a notion come from? ;) Why haven't the rest of you read it it yet?? (Nudge, nudge.)<br><br>Today of course, NASA is waaay better at docking spacecraft than in the 60s, so Earth Orbit Rendezvous sounds pretty smart to me as compared to putting that all into one super-heavy rocket. Bill's the physicist in residence, so I'll defer to his judgement there. Is that a good idea?<br><br>Nate
