Vanishing posts, or just shrinking counts?
Has anyone else noticed that the postings counter for their member name has been declining? Mine has dropped from 1000+ to 558 over the past couple of days -- even Nate's seems to have dropped, although only by a tiny amount (I'm pretty sure he had 641 -- but it now shows 640).
If posts are vanishing, it isn't by age -- at least some of my April 2004 entries are still there...

Not even the ones that were marshmallow fluff with the very best liqueur-saturated cherries on top? Well, then, we should be seeing your count dropping even faster than mine, since the creative use of garnishes is sorely lacking in your posts. (Especially that last one.) :oCool. Number one! 8-)

I believe decorum requires me to respond in a specific manner:Not even the ones that were marshmallow fluff with the very best liqueur-saturated cherries on top? I'll get back to 1000 posts ESPECIALLY if it kills Nate. :o

Like as not that's a result of my trying ot fix it. *sigh*Eek. Wormtongue's post count is now ZERO.
This is like a horror story. Quick, someone write a story about posts disappearing!
Re: Vanishing posts, or just shrinking counts?
I actually see no evidence that posts are disappearing. I see evidence that the counter is broken.
Working on it, guys.

Re: Vanishing posts, or just shrinking counts?
Or maybe such a thing is a blessing in disguise.
It lessens the number of posts between newbees and master critics, and would make discussion seem like less like a private conversation between old hands and more of something where anyone can join in.
Plus, it encourages Robert to post more, thereby insuring there is never a "post" vacuum.
Food for thought.
Nate
PS. Such a suggestion would have nothing to do with keeping me above Robert in post count. ::)

Ok, I've fixed the counts so that everyone has the right numbers now. You may now return to your normal critiquing.

Re: Vanishing posts, or just shrinking counts?
Yeah, ok. Robert is back on top of the post counts.
It was fun while it lasted.
One question, though. Why are some stars gray/silver, like mine, when others have gold stars? Just curious, apart from the obvious kindergarten parallel. (I will NOT share my truck with Robert, and you can't make me. So there. :P)

It appears that Rob has added color coding for all members of the Editorial Mafia. Mere Editors have their names in green, and have gold stars; Rob as Webmaven gets reddish stars and his name in purple(?); Dan as Grand High Inquisitor -- er, Publisher and Senior Editor gets his name and his stars in blue. But I still don't get anything special purely for having a four-digit postings count. :'(

Unless he's been made, there must be something else going on. It's not a big deal, but I wondered why.

Don't you guys have stories to critique instead of wasting all yer time obsessing over the size of your [s]penis[/s] posting count and star rating?Yes, but Jaimie is in the messages above this one, and his stars are yellow. It appears that Rob has added color coding for all members of the Editorial Mafia. There were only so many colours to choose from. I may yet go back and change things, but I think that 4 was yellow and 5 was silver by default, without my changing it. I'm not motivated to go look right now, though, because I need to go floss the cat.

Sometimes you want to shoot the breeze with your fellows, reinforce that sense of community, and just be happy you're not at work.
