ADMIN:  Sweeping out the memberlist

Post by doc »

As many of you may recall, the reason we switched to this forum software three and a half years ago was to cut out the amount of spam we were getting on the boards. Because YaBB requires registration before allowing posting, we haven't had much problems with spam since we made the switch.

Unfortunately, spammers still TRY to register, and when they fail to activate the account they set up, it just sits there. And I've been negligent clearing them out, so a lot of them piled up.

I just went through and deleted almost every account that has never actually posted a comment to the forum, according to our post count records. It is entirely possible that I may have deleted a legitimate account from a real user by mistake, and if so, I apologize, and hope that that person will re-register and join in the conversation.

Enjoy the forums!

Yeah, one would think that Actual Humanoids would only register for the purpose of being able to post, so Zero Posts (especially after a prolonged period) should correlate pretty closely with Zero Pulse (Respiration, etc.). Now, if we were offering Door Prizes for registrants (but most of us have at least one door, anyway), that would be different ...
