"At the Astrobiology Science Conference earlier this year, scientists and science fiction writers -- from NASA researcher Chris McKay to author Kim Stanley Robinson -- faced off on the promises and pitfalls of terraforming Mars. Their debate is recreated in these seven pages. The Mars Terraforming Debate was co-sponsored by NASA's Astrobiology Magazine, the SciFi Museum (Seattle), and Breakpoint Media. It is reproduced here in cooperation with Astrobiology Magazine."

Wow, Robert. You're not dead.

After a whole week where you didn't post a message, I was afraid you were deceased or trapped under something heavy, and unable to reach your keyboard.... :)

(I'm just kidding. Robert is writing up a storm right now, and can't come to the phone, so if you want to poke fun at him now, he'll get back at us later... 8))

Nate
Actually, I started this thread back in JULY. The most recent thing I commented on was (I think) Bill Wolfe's Mare Inebrium story -- it's been a busy week. I have added a few thousand words to my current project, but only a select few are allowed to know what it is (bwahahahaha).

I guess Nate was so thrilled to see a thread containing a comment with my byline that he didn't notice the date on the first message. Took Dan quite a while to notice that the thread existed and follow up on it, too. (Hmm. It appears that 'later' has arrived. IT'S PAYBACK TIME.)

Robert M.

He asked some damn good questions- made me think so hard I started to sweat.
Are sure it was the question that made you sweat? It couldn't possibly be all the
beer you drink while chatting, would it? :)

Nate
