Why was I surprised to see this?

Really, Eddie, I should have seen it coming, with as much enthusiasm as you've shown for Aphelion.

I'll try to participate, although my efforts in the challenge are quite infrequent, so no promises.

I did notice a tiny discrepancy between the rules given and your sample story: you called for fruits AND vegetables, but your sample story (really pretty decent!) is about a fruit only.

You may wish to add a line to the boilerplate to the effect that this is an unofficial project. Beyond that--just this:

I’m working on a story. Been very busy over the summer and didn’t get much time to write.
This sounds like an interesting challenge and one that should be tried.
