I know what you mean . . . "Dark Angel" was a favorite of mine -- (Jessica Alba is just too cute for words) -- a lot of light-hearted stuff going on, likeable characters, and an interesting plot. Then the same thing happened with "Fringe", and "Firefly", and there was another -- a couple others, actually, that I've forgotten the names of. They get you hooked real good and then quit. Jerks.
I was raised by humans. What's your excuse?

Um, "Fringe" has been renewed (although they haven't explained how they will do it when a lead character erased himself from existence to save both universes). Were you thinking of "Sarah Connor Chronicles" (which ended with the young John Connor projected into the future where he meets the Cameron terminator's human original)? Or "Stargate: Universe" (with the Destiny facing a battle they cannot win and cannot escape)? If you remember "Space: Above and Beyond", you can view the final episode as a cliffhanger with all the major characters in peril, or as a finale -- because all the major characters were about to die...Lester Curtis wrote:I know what you mean . . . Yes,that's right, "Sarah Connor Chronicles", "Firefly", "Stargate: Universe" and "Space: Above and B." , but "Crusade", too, are all good examples of what I mean...many and many very good shows unfortunately were lost forever...![]()
But we have so many (horrible) long- lasting reality TV shows around...a mark of the times, maybe...

"Sarah Connor Chronicles" was another good one, but the one I really missed, I can't recall the name of. It involved a young boy and some species of sea-creatures (with some remarkable and scary abilities) that made a sudden appearance; the boy found one of their eggs and raised the baby and they formed a bond.
There was yet another, running at the same time period as "Fringe" -- reminiscent of "The X-Files" -- I forget the name of that one, as well.
"The X-Files" itself began to wear a little thin by the end of its run, so I didn't miss it much went it disappeared.

I think you are referring to "Surface". There was another one that year (2005, according to imdb.com) called "Threshold", in which a billionaire hires an eclectic group of experts to investigate the loss of a number of his ships (they discover an alien or extradimensional phenomenon that causes mental and physical changes in anyone exposed to it, even indirectly (e.g., through video or even audio playback), and still another called "Invasion", in which alien doppelgangers were replacing people in authority and taking over -- but a faction within them had become too human and began to side with the natives (i.e., us). (This trope has also been featured in "V"... which has also been cancelled, I think.)Lester Curtis wrote:"Sarah Connor Chronicles" was another good one, but the one I really missed, I can't recall the name of. All three of these short-lived series are available on DVD (not that this helps to wrap up the unresolved storylines...)

"Threshold" isn't bad; I'm watching that through my Netflix subscription. Some of the actors overplay their parts, but overall it's a good one.
