Aphelion

This one reminded me a bit of "Quintessence" by I. D. Weis
(http://www.aphelion-webzine.com/shorts/ ... sence.html) in its vivid, nightmarish imagery. But it differs in that it blends gritty urban life (drug-addicted sex trade workers) with the more fantastic elements -- a collision between two dystopian worlds.

Agree? Disagree? We only need another forty or fifty comments this month to break 200...

If anything, I would have preferred a deeper development of the narrator.

On that basis, authors whose stories get no comments at all might be justified in thinking, "I guess I didn't do anything wrong -- but I didn't do anything great, either."

As for the narrator -- at the end, he had developed some depth. About three to six inches under Mother's skin, I would guess...
