Interzone #202 is here, and it looks great. Just seeing my name on the cover is an ambition fulfilled. And the illustrations that accompany my story - THE LAST REEF - are superb.

That is indeed a stupendous result, Gareth -- congratulations! I think my envyometer has just gone off the scale ;-)

The new regime at Interzone appears to be a most positive development from a writer's perspective, both in terms of its plans for the magazine itself and the apparently increased respect for the wordsmith.

I submitted quite a few stories to the old Interzone in the late 80s, and was constantly dismayed by the amateurism of the editorial staff at that time. They'd think nothing of hanging on to an MS for six months, and when I did get a response back (always a rejection of course :-[), it'd often be accompanied by an inane comment such as "this just wouldn't happen".

Thanks.

And just to let you know - the January issue of Byzarium is now online (www.byzarium.com) featuring my short story SUNSETS AND HAMBURGERS.

I've just sold another story to INTERZONE.
Hmm... I need to stick more pins in my Gareth voodoo doll... er, I mean, good show Gareth! ;)

And I've been reading Rob Starr's excellent collection CREEK WATER. Many of the stories in it originally appeared in APHELION, and it's a great read.
I just finished reading mine on Sunday night. I'll have more to say on that when I'm not working 12 hour days.

Gotta go! Boss-man headed this way!

Nate
