Small potatoes next to some of the other accomplishments in this column, but I won the monthly writing contest at Creator and the Catalyst.

find the story here:

Dan,
Best of luck with that; it's a worthy body of work, certainly. And, I just read your editorial for this month . . . you can't get much better endorsement than Larry Niven. Go get 'em!

"Trade Route" is now on authonomy

Post by Lester Curtis »

Not a brag (yet), just to let you know that I've done a lot of editing to this manuscript and posted some of it to look at, here:

http://authonomy.com/books/60179/trade-route/

You can read any book there without signing up, but if you wish to comment, you can sign up and comment there, or post 'em here.

It's still very incomplete, but I plan to fill in the gaps as I go, and sooner or later, big chunks will show up. I just hope I can keep up with it, so as to eventually have the entire book there in one piece, in one place.

Authonomy demands that books have covers, so here's mine.

This is great reading! It runs several long chapters that can be read by the page at the link. There are favorable comments on the link and Lester will see many more. I’m reading it piecemeal and hope it will remain available.

It will remain, and I'll be adding more material in a while.

Thanks, glad you like it.

ente per ente wrote:For Mark Edgemon:

Actually, I have always found that some words, or sentences, in an alien ( that is foreign...eh,eh) language can give me an idea for a story, just like a portion of the lyrics of a song (In English or in Japanese, or even in Norwegian, at most, for instance) much better than in Italian... :D

For example, if you just listen to the famous lyrics of the song of The Hobbit, Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold, that is as follows, as seen in the movie: :D

Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
The pines were roaring on the height,
The winds were moaning in the night,
The fire was red, it flaming spread;
The trees like torches blazed with light.

Well, I can just take a sort of story out of a single word of any line ...

What if in some deep caves some caverns are older than others? And why? That's a sort of hint for a story...

What if a single pine wasn't roaring the same as the others did? Was it the house of a fairy, a sort of holo-image or whatever?

What if that forest had some trees that were lit as torches from time to time by nature, to renovate the leaves or to avoid them becoming some bad , evil things when a trunk grows older?

What if in some parts of those woods the fire wasn't red, but blue, or of another color? Was there some gas or something magical coming from the terrain?

In a way, strange to say, it's not the same to me when I listen to Italian...maybe Italian is a language useful for poets, but not for Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror fans, who knows...eh,eh
Wow. Now I know a little more about where you get all this stuff, and you've shown in a most eloquent way how we can all get it for ourselves. Beautiful!

As to saving these notions when they pop into your head, I carry a little digital voice recorder everywhere, because I may get an idea when I'm driving, or just when I'm about to fall asleep. Mine has a one-button-record feature, and I can find it by touch (hint).

And here I thought you had a room full of clones . . .

Looks like it will be a fun book to read. Now that means I have to go out and find where I buried my gold coins. And then, if I can find them, I'll have to convert it to cash and then put it into a bank so I can apply for a credit card and then buy a copy.

Or,

maybe ask random strangers to borrow their credit card.

Anyway, looking forward to reading it.

It seems that most of my posts - and of other authors here...- of the previous years were accidentally deleted all at once, the same as my account during a procedure scheduled on Aphelion to secure this site from evil spambots( from outer space...eh,eh :) )...actually, this is not a Sci-Fi plot, but a reality, as unfortunately these things happen, and it's not my fault of course... so I'm going to restore some of my previous posts here in this Section by using my archives of the lasts years...it will require time...

But for now, here is, as follows, the last post I remember I posted here some weeks ago, before the deletion occurred, and before I can try, and start, to restore, or re-post, the previous messages on this Forum... :) :)

"The food chain..." in American"The Hollow - Book 7" - Horror Anthology:

For anyone interested, another Urban Fantasy/Horror Short-Story written by me in American/English, title "The food chain…",set in the 1800s, in a fictitious Territory of Arizona, more or less, with a female ghost-hunter, some lonely houses and farms, and many other very strange events going on along the way to old Seattle...has been recently chosen to be included also inside the American Horror Anthology titled "The Hollow - Book #7". by Breaking Rules Publishing... :)

Another of my previous posts recovered from the archives, in a way...eh,eh :)

"Parallel existences..." in British"Schlock Magazine":

As previously anticipated, for everyone interested, is finally available ( for free online for a few days...) also on Amazon.com shop the paperback August 2020 issue of British "Schlock Magazine" ... where you can find inside also that new Sci-Fi Short-Story written by me in American/English, title "Parallel existences..." , set in Illinois, U.S.A., in the 1980s, and in the next future, actually, or in the past...at least, part of it... where some strange, unexpected events took place possibly about time travel...because, you know, from the point of view of the ones who live in the far future we all are already dead...and you can never be sure if somebody you spot sitting next to you in a bar, or at a restaurant, is just a sort of historian who is not from the present time, recording things or words someone said once...

This story has been written by me and my (unfortunately now dead) friend Ernesto CANEPA, as it was mainly an old idea of his that I recently completed and put on (electronic) paper with some modifications, after some Sci-Fi RPG sessions of some time ago.
