We had suggested that we were going to hold it at our place in North Atlanta, both to make it more convenient to get to and to give Dan and Lyn a break. We should probably pick a date and start planning. Who all is interested in coming?

Some news: LibertyCon this weekend, family reunion next weekend, then the following week the factory is shutting down for repairs and instalation of new equipment. As a result of all of these I've had to use up most of my vacation time for this year. Due to my upcoming 30 years seniority, I'll be able to add a fifth week of vacation after September 18th. So to help with the scheduling of Aphelicon I'll post the weekends that I can attend *without* having to use any vaction time.

August 23rd
August 30th

September 6th
September 13th

After that, I'll have that new vacation time that I can schedule, so all I'll need is a week's notice in order to get the paperwork filed on time.

Dan
September 6th is no good, as Larissa and I will be in Boston that weekend. (I suppose we would leave the key under the mat for you, but we don't want to miss it either!

Is September 13th too short notice for people?

... Augustus is amongst us ...
Also, "Yngvi is a louse!" (obscure reference to one of the Fletcher Pratt-L. Sprague de Camp "Enchanter" stories)

Better Augustus than a fungus ("There's a fungus among us!" (from an episode of the "Maniac Mansion" TV series)).

This completely irrelevant post has been brought to you by the symbol by which Prince was formerly known.

i vanish (again) for a couple of months and you louts are (once more) all demented pod creature replicants.

oh well back to readin'
"(once more)"? Surely you mean "(still)". And you should be glad that we're only replicants of demented pod creatures. REAL demented pod creatures would be hunting you down to devour your offspring (and even your onspring) at this very moment ...

Is there going to be a virtual/webcam option again this year? I don't know if I'll be home or not whatever day is finally chosen, but I do have a cam, so potentially I could attend that way... If I figure out how to use the thing.

Just wondering, and it might be a way for someone like Joseph to visit from all the way over there.

this must have mutated into the comedy section while i was gone - Rob with a bona fide gem, mingxing with some brazenly hilarious wikiinfo (and i can tell it was delivered with an awesome deadpan) and then out of the blue Nate asking about webcams. if there was ever a better case of WTF i don't know what to say anymore.
Thread drift is what thread drift is. One can still ask a question that is actually related to Aphelicon 2008... occasionally.

Repeat above, only insert the word ANOTHER after the first coma.
Does it have to be a coma? Can you just be knocked out for a few minutes instead? :D

I suggested a date (now past) that no one responded to.

Honestly, I've got enough going on right now that while I'm willing to *host* the party, I don't have enough spoonsto organize it. So, y'know, someone who isn't me needs to make some decisions and then check with me on conflicts. :)

Vila wrote:I'm sorry Rob, I must have missed the post where you suggested a date. My bad, :(

Lyn & I have a meet-up with the Atlanta area Steampunk folks on October 4th. I'm having to schedule a vacation day to go to that. Other than that weekend, I'll be scheduled to work weekends up until Oct. 18th.

OK people, post when you'd be able to attend and let's start working something out.

Dan
Just to note two definately conflicts for me:

October 10-12, I will be at alt.poycon, a polyamory convention in Atlanta, which I'm helping organize this interation.

October 24-26, i will be in Columbus Ohio for the Ohio Valley Filk Fest.
