Hm. I was going to suggest that a good, clear rule would be to separate myth from religion by limiting myth to the use of mortals as main characters. Heroes can be larger than life, and even be somewhat super-endowed, but they're still mortal. Deities up there -- heroes down here. I guess the contest title ruins that, though.
